Public Meeting on Neutrality and The Triple Lock.

In a well attended public meeting in Naomh Fionnbarra GAA Club in Cabra, Dublin last night hosted by Forward Ireland. Speakers including Political Activist Fionn Wallace, Former Peacekeeper and head of the Defence Forces Trade Union, Gerry Rooney and Academic Rory Rowan. The trio give and in depth analysis of our peacekeeping role and standing within the Anti Imperialist bloc. It outlined the role on the EU in Mali and the security implications withing that country. The major implications if the Triple Lock was abandoned and how we as a country would suffer greatly within the International community.

“Commenting after the meeting a member of the Communist Party of Ireland National Executive Committee pointed out. That the ending of the Triple Lock would be a significant shift away from the United Nations and the historic peace keeping role played by this state within the United Nations. A peace keeping role fully supported by our people.

Any change in the Triple Lock would be a clear signal of the weakening of this state commitment to operating within UN peace missions.

That the deployment of Irish military personnel would be taken outside UN peace structure and more aligned to the needs and interests of EU/NATO.”
