No to NATO: Put Irish neutrality in the constitution

he strategic review into the defence forces of this state will provide an opportunity for the Irish political and military establishment to push forward one of the key items on their wishlist – Joining NATO to show how loyal and subservient they can be.

No doubt over the coming period there will be a number of strategic opinion pieces on how under funded the defence forces are and how Ireland is the weak link of the Western defences.

They will of course ignore the fact that we have already signed up to increase our spending under the EU military strategy of PESCO. Softening up the public is required in order to meet their ultimate goal of joining NATO.

The officer class in the Irish Army are already ensconced in the NATO headquarters but they want to go much further to be two bit players on the NATO stage.
