National Political School:

On Saturday 13th September Communists from across Ireland gathered at our headquarters in Dublin for a National Political School.

Members from Cork, Donegal, Antrim, Belfast and all points in between came together to discuss, debate and exchange experiences.

The school is part of preparations for our 27th Congress in early 2027.

The first part of day dealt with Historical and Dialectical materialism as the corner stone of the revolutionary ideology of the Communist Party of Ireland.

The second session dealt with its application regarding the political programme adopted at our last Congress and developed our understanding of state monopoly capitalism (imperialism) and how it dominates the lives of the people of Ireland North and south today.

This is best expressed with our analysis ‘Triple Lock of Imperialism’ which describes the economic domination and control of our affairs by the United States, Britain and the European Union.

There was a particular focus on the historical and on-going role of British imperialism in Ireland and how the continued occupation of the 6 counties is the main obstacle to peace and national unity.

There were discussions on the class nature and our understanding of demands around sovereignty, democracy and independence. That these terms have different meanings to working people as distinct and different from that defined by the Irish ruling class.

The third session provided an opportunity to discuss and share experiences in relation to the global situation and permanent war strategy of global imperialism headed by the USA. It is clear that imperialism is facing renewed pressures and challenges globally.

The final part of the school focused on the role of Communist Party branches in implementing strategies adopted at our Congress.

Branch officers from across the country outlined their experiences, difficulties, challenges and successes.

The school was an important gathering of Communists from across the country and helped to consolidate our party and the many new members within our ranks.

Forward to our 27th National Congress.
