This privacy notice provides information about the ways in which the Communist Party of Ireland (CPI) collects, stores, shares or keeps personal information provided by visitors to our website.

Search engine:

The search facility on our website is an internal search function and only returns information that appears on the website.

Join online/Entry forms:

Data entered into the contact form, membership form or any other entry forms on this website will be treated equally to emails as detailed below.

Information entered onto the CPI website for the purpose of joining the Party is encrypted and held securely by our host provider. The data is retained in line with the Party’s Retention Policy.

Emailing us:

Any emails sent to us are recorded and forwarded to the relevant Branch and/or National Officer(s). The sender’s email address will remain visible to all CPI Officers tasked with dealing with the query.

Please be aware that it is the sender’s responsibility to ensure that the content of their emails is within the bounds of the law. Unsolicited material of a criminal nature will be reported to the relevant authorities and blocked.

How are they used on this site

This website makes use of Stats cookies to help generate data about the aggregated views and locations of views for specific pages. We do not have access to individual data such as IP address, only aggregated data (for example the total views to a page) Stats

Data Used: IP address, user ID (if logged in), username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, timestamp of event, browser language, country code.

Important:The site owner does not have access to any of this information via this feature. For example, a site owner can see that a specific post has 285 views, but they cannot see which specific users/accounts viewed that post. Stats logs – containing visitor IP addresses and usernames (if available) – are retained by Automattic for 28 days and are used for the sole purpose of powering this feature.

Activity Tracked: Post and page views, video plays (if videos are hosted by, outbound link clicks, referring URLs and search engine terms, and country. When this module is enabled, Jetpack also tracks performance on each page load that includes the JavaScript file used for tracking stats. This is exclusively for aggregate performance tracking across Jetpack sites in order to make sure that our plugin and code is not causing performance issues. This includes the tracking of page load times and resource loading duration (image files, JavaScript files, CSS files, etc.). The site owner has the ability to force this feature to honor DNT settings of visitors. By default, DNT is currently not honoured.


The site uses Recaptcha to protect the contact form. This is provided by Google and uses cookies added by it to verify a genuine contact.
